The Shyne Success Conference & Talent Competition was held on Saturday, April 24 at the University of Pittsburgh, William Pitt Union, from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The event feature workshops on topics regarding: Success, Ethics & Leadership, Finances, Relationships and Safety. Attendees also enjoyed lunch, a talent competition where their peers competed for cash prizes (First Place: $500; Second Place: $250 and Third Place: $125) and an opportunity to perform at The 4th Annual Shyne Awards that will be held on Saturday, August 7 at the Byham Theatre. Plus, attendees enjoyed a special performance by Universal Recording Artist "Newland." Newland is a singer, songwriter and producer that is heavily being considered as the next R&B superstar! Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Newland began singing and dancing at an early age after being musically inspired by his Father as well as artists such as; Michael Jackson, Prince and Usher. Newland just released "Pillow," the first single from his self-titled debut album. When asked what fans can look forward to, he states, "People can expect a smooth classy sound. I want be like a breath of fresh air!" Young adults are nominated and recognized in one of the following categories: The Arts, Academics, Entrepreneurship, Community Service and Service in Ministry. An adult is awarded the Gwendolyn J.
